that one’s new fiction
remains on the shore, its sand
a clean slate, of shale
and a lithosphere
so together, angels buck
unsaddled riders
that muscles and arch
untether wings, village tale
turned big history
turned siltstone, hammer
brought to its edge, a chisel
to bear its own weight
