One Night, The Fukien Robbers poem – Yang Wan-Li poems | Poetry Monster One night, the Fukien robbers eyed Kwangtung;
by morning, the Southern armies had all moved eastward.
The shouts of the troops shook cliffs and valleys;
banners flapped briskly in the cold wind.
Leopards and tigers gathered from all sides;
the rebel leaders were wiped out with a laugh.
Petty men, like a pack of rats –
beating them was no great task.
