Never Sure Which You Are
by Mary Etta Metcalf
light and dark…each having failed us at a time of need…only one is true
reaching toward the sky…begging for answers…only to be denied
it is your quest…you must succeed to know the truth…to be yourself
child of the light…child of the dark…never sure which you are
being of both…searching for self in both worlds…finding no answers
knowing one is the salvation…the other a lie…but which one do you trust
playing games instead of paying attention…time is now lost…searching on
child of the light…child of the dark…never sure which you are
the answer lies beyond your reach…yet…it is there…seeking you as you go
answers are found only by you…this is your quest…no others may search
reaching for the skies…seeking yet for more assistance…again denied
child of the light…child of the dark…never sure which you are
there are no shortcuts to this quest…who you are…is what you’ve always been
always there…all the time…waiting for you to find…looking in the wrong places
looking up again…the answer opens up…you have found…your search is done
child of the light…child of the dark…never sure which you are
